The Tree Will Outlive Us, but Its Blossoms Will Not

This installation provokes reflection about the life cycle: life, death, and rebirth. It tells the story of an encounter with two trees. The motion blur in the images of an old Southern Oak, suggests that the tree stands grounded—and has for over one hundred years—yet the world around it is ever-changing. Another tree had all of the stages of life happening at once: buds, full blooms, dying blossoms. The filmstrip-like design on the sheets and the transparent material, reminiscent of celluloid, evoke time-based cinematic language in a still installation.

Installation, abstract photographs on bedsheets and multiple 4x4 transparent photographic prints on a pillow. 2022
